 The Matrix Model (Stimulants)

The Matrix model gives a framework for engaging a stimulant , which abusers who are involved in treatment can use and thereby help themselves achieve abstinence from such drugs. Patients do learn a thing or two about critical problems involved with the addiction and thereby, relapse, receiving directions and support from a therapist trained, and become adept to such self-help programs , and are thereby monitored for the use of drugs through methods such as urine-testing.

The therapist works along with the patient, just as our teachers and coaches, who chugged along with them a very positive attitude , and encourages the relation he/she shares with the patient. They try and use such relationship to bring about the change in the behavior towards the positive side. This interaction which takes place between the therapist and the patient is quite genuine and direct but is not parental or confrontational. The therapists are indeed coached and trained to conduct such treatment sessions in such a way that it boosts the patient’s morale, self-pride, confidence, self-worth and dignity. This positive relationship Is very crucial and critical between a patient and his therapist if the patient needs to be retained in the treatment.

Treatment materials also draw heavily on the other successful treatment approaches and thereby have an element of relapse prevention , family and group therapies, drug-education and self-help participation . The detailed and informative treatment manuals contain extensive worksheets for every individual session of treatment. This consists of other varied components as well which include 12-step programs and social support groups. A number of detailed researches also suggest that participants who were treated using this Model shows an significant improvement in uses of drugs and alcohol.
