In order to engage individual in drug treatment, family and friends play very crucial roles. Especially for immature drug addicts family therapy is very important. Treatment program is more effective and give more benefit with the involvement of family members.

Although, it is difficult to locate an appropriate treatment for your loved ones but it is important to find out the treatment which is according to the need of an individual. However, there are some resources available which are helpful in locating treatment and they are:

  • SAMHSA (The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) have a website (www.findtreatment.samhsa.gov) that is helpful in finding the treatment program for drug abusers. Also, one can contact them by calling at 1-800-662.

  • In order to prevent drug adductors and those who are consuming alcohol, The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-TALK) provides their services. They help patients to connect nearby treatment professional.

  • Other non profit services are “National Alliance on Mental Illness” (www.nami.org) and “Mental Health America” (www.mentalhealthamerica.net) supports drug abusers as well as their family members. They deal with variety of mental disorders through out the country.

  • Also, physician locator tools are available on websites www.aaap.org and www.aacap.org, posted by “American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry” and

American academy of child and adolescent”.

  • In order to treat different abuse substances contact NIDA’s National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network at websites ww.drugabuse.gov/CTN/Index.htm or www.clinicaltrials.gov.

 

Role of work place in substance abuse treatment:

There are many programs offered at work places. EAPs (employ assistant program) provide short term counseling programs, the purpose of which is to overcome the drug or alcohol problems and engage employees in treatment program. Also, along with it there are therapeutic work environments for employees which motivate drug abusers towards drugless lifestyle and enable them to live with abstinence of drug. Furthermore, it improves behaviors, punctuality and job skills for active employment. This will surely help them throughout the life.
